A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Khamis Musa Darazo, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to rename a major road in Abuja in honor of popular Hausa musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, Darazo praised Rarara's contributions to Nigeria's socio-political landscape, describing his music as a powerful tool for unity, hope, and civic engagement across the country.
"Rarara’s songs have played a significant role in our democracy since 1999, especially during election periods," Darazo stated. "His music promotes peace, inspires civic participation, and strengthens national identity."
He stressed that naming a road after Rarara would be a fitting tribute to his enduring influence on Nigerian culture and politics, noting that his songs have not only entertained but also mobilized political support and fostered national unity.
"Honoring Rarara in this way would preserve his legacy for future generations and celebrate his role as a cultural icon," Darazo added.
