Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the sum of N3billion for the installation of solar power at Yankari Game Reserve.
Besides that, the governor also gave approval for the total overhauling of the water scheme and renovation of luxury suites, respectively.
The Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Alhaji Abdullah Hassan Nasarawa, said this in an interview with ‘Journalists for Tourism’ in his office at the Abubakar Umar Bauchi State Secretariat.
According to the Commissioner, the approval was given by the governor prior to the submission and request by the ministry for an upgrade of the facilities at the site to attract both domestic and foreign investors with a view to improving and increasing revenue generation for the State.
He disclosed that apart from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the site, when completed, would create job opportunities for more than 500 to 1000 jobs for teeming youth, especially in the immediate communities, as well as promote cultural heritage within and outside the state.
He explained that work has already commenced at the site, which would soon be commissioned by the Governor.
The Commissioner gave a breakdown of the total cost, which stands at N2.7billion for the installation of the solar power, and three hundred million naira for the renovation of the water system scheme and luxury suite rooms.
Our correspondent reports that this effort is part of Governor Bala Mohammed's campaign promises and "My Bauchi Project" agenda in reviving and making the state one of the most attractive tourism sites in Nigeria and the world at large.
